Cat's Fogo Mug

Inspired by a pottery retreat earlier this year, this mug was born from hands-on exploration and quiet moments at the wheel. Thrown in rich black clay and glazed with two of my favorite finishes—Black Walnut and Pearl White—each piece showcases an organic reaction where the glazes meet, creating earthy, flowing patterns that feel as natural as riverstone.

The base is broad and sits snugly in your palm; the walls gently narrow inward to cradle heat and keep your beverage warm. Small-batch, handcrafted, and slightly unique in every cup—designed to be used, loved, and woven into your everyday rituals.

  • Yes, every Batacan Ceramics mug and bowl is dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe too. Because each piece is handmade and glazed by hand, I still recommend gentle handwashing to keep it looking its best over the years. All my glazes, from Shino to Celadon to my layered finishes, are food-safe and lead-free, so your piece is ready for everyday meals and drinks.

  • Batacan Ceramics pieces are microwave-safe, so the microwave is fine, but I don't recommend the oven. They're dishwasher-safe too, though I always suggest gentle handwashing to protect the handmade glaze over time. Keeping pieces out of the oven avoids the thermal shock that can crack handmade ceramics. All my glazes are food-safe and lead-free.
